We can't say it often enough : too much alcohol is dangerous for your health. The good thing about the vintages on offer over the three days is that it will be very difficult (unless you have a well-stocked purse) to overindulge...

Attention wine lovers (and there are many) : the Besch Cannes Auction 'Grands vins & alcools' sales return to the Martinez lounges tomorrow.

Three days of sales and nearly 2100 lots, appraised by Pascal Kuzniewski, to delight connoisseurs and reassure the more modest : there are bargains to suit all pockets.

Especially on the first day (starting at 1.30pm), when François Raveneau (Chablis), Clos Rougeard (Saumur Champigny) and Mouton Rothschild (Pauillac), to name but a few, will be waiting for you from the first hammer blows.

The 'big guns' in this triptych of auctions will be there mainly on Saturday (10.30am, then 1.30pm). Notable lots include a batch of two bottles of Corton-Charlemagne 2004 (Domaine Coche-Dury) estimated at 7000€; a case of six Petrus 1992 (estimate : 9000€); and the nugget of the day : a bottle of Romanée-Conti 2009, estimated at 12000€.

La Romanée-Conti to break the record ?

For the record, the Burgundy estate caused a stir in April 2022, when a set of twelve bottles (1999 vintage) was sold for 112850€ ! These heights are unlikely to be reached during the three-day event. Unless...
