The "Important Diamonds, Signed Jewellery and Prestige Watches" sale, orchestrated by Besch Cannes Auction and jewellery expert Edouard DEGARO, to be held on December 31st, 2024 at the Hôtel MARTINEZ in Cannes, focuses mainly on the elegance of the Art Deco and Retro years.
Will be showcased pieces with a strong character that tell the story of an era and a know-how, but above all a versatile use known as "transformation", the idea that a piece of jewellery should not have a single use but multiple uses, so that women can adapt it to their moods and outfits.
As an Art Deco bracelet in black enamelled metal holding two platinum pyramid-shaped openwork geometrical motifs set with european-cut diamonds and calibrated baguettes on the ends, which can be detached and worn as lapel clips.
(Lot 69 – estimate : 4 000/8 000€)
Or, from the house of Van Cleef & Arpels, a superb half-set in diamonds, including earrings and a long necklace, made by the André Vassort workshop, one of the illustrious "ateliers de l'ombre", specialising in the manufacture of organic and so-called "transformation" jewellery, whose sautoir can be transformed into either 3 separate bracelets or a necklace (which can accommodate a pendant thanks to a small ring concealed beneath a motif).
(Lot 170 – estimate : 90 000/110 000€)
In terms of precious stones, a superb Fancy Yellow natural diamond weighing 9,36 carats with VS2 clarity and GIA certificate is set off by extra-white heart diamonds.
(Lot 171 – estimate : 120 000/ 180 000€)
Among the coloured gemstones, which are always highly prized, you should expect to pay between 70000€ and 90000€ for a superb 12,11 carats natural rectangular cut sapphire from Burma, one of the most coveted origins in the world for the quality of its crystal (a source that is now closed to production). It is mounted on a platinum ring and comes with a certificate from the Laboratoire Français de Gemmologie (lot 251).
More affordable but still exceptional is a 1,85-carat emerald of Colombian origin mounted in a yellow gold and diamond ring (with GemParis certificate), with an exceptional green colour and crystallization close to flawlessness, estimated at between 4500€ and 8500€ (lot 135).
There will also be contemporary jewellery with modern technical features, such as these splendid XL hoop earrings by JACOB & Co, in white gold, tubular in shape and microscopically paved with more than 2800 diamonds, bringing the total to over 30 carats.
(Lot 262 - estimate : 15 000/25 000€)
