At the heart of Besch Auctions' 37th Easter sales (April 18-21), an exceptional sale of assets confiscated by the courts for the benefit of the State was held in the lounges of the Martinez. This prestigious German sports car, ordered by the Agence de gestion et de recouvrement des avoirs saisis et confisqués, was sold for 89140€. Other auction highlights included an Audi R8 Spyder (70855€), a Porsche 911 Carrera type 993 (70850€) and a 1964 Mercedes Pagode 230 SL (52570€). Elsewhere, a Steinway & Sons piano model 0-180 (black finish) went for 36570€ and a carpet from Manufacture de la Savonnerie sold for 26284€.
Besch also had other notable sales during the four days devoted to paintings, sculptures, fine wines and jewellery. Roger Muhl's oil on canvas ‘Les Calanques’ was sold for 59690€, while Félix Ziem's oil on panel ‘Damanhour, effet de soleil couchant sur les bords du Nil’ fetched 37465€. Still in art, a collection of lighting - including the floor lamp ‘Les yeux sans visage’ - and sculptures by designer Yonel Lebovici was sold for 38735 euros. Among the fine wines, an assortment of 12 bottles of Romanée-Conti 1988 fetched 37820 euros; in the fine jewellery category, a half-set by Bulgari fetched 57785 euros.
