Bernard Buffet "Rue de village, 70"
Bernard Buffet "Rue de village, 70"
Sold : 115460€

The December 30 vacation was thus devoted to painting, from the end of the 19th century to the present day. Bernard Buffet’s spirit was rewarded with 115460€ by an oil composition on Isorel, representing an austere "Rue de village" (73 x 92 cm), signed and dated «70». Francis Picabia, a fan of provocative modernism, then had a drawing "Untitled" in pencil, ink and watercolour on marouflé paper representing one of his «Spanish», and realized around 1925-1927. For this typical work, an enthusiast paid 44552€.

Softer, asserted the young girl of Marie Laurencin, an oil on canvas signed and dated 1948 (35 x 27 cm), which comes from the «Edgardo Acosta Gallery» in Beverly Hills, and disputed up to 38905€. Armand Guillaumin was the author of a painting about "Le Village de Saint-Sauves", painted in February 1900. The work (54,4 x 65,2 cm) – which will be included in the second volume of the catalogue raisonné in preparation by the Guillaumin committee – was awarded 36395€.

Then place to the volumes with a chryselephantine from Demeter Chiparus named Clara (59,5 x 72 x 20 cm), in patinated bronze and ivory, a dancer sold for 111600€.

The work of the sculptor Bruno Romeda is based on monumental geometric forms, made up of modest elements. Like a Cercle made in 2005, a unique bronze print with an antique green patina (220 x 232 x 7 cm), with a stamp from the Fondart foundry in Valbrembo, detailed for 77045€ (reproduced on page 88 of La Gazette n° 44). A Triangle, built in 1992, also in bronze with antique green patina (234,5 x 233 x 10 cm), and coming from the villa of jazzman Bobby Short in Mougins, recorded 55850€.

The exceptional wines were also part of the festival, led by a bottle of Musigny, from the Leroy estate and 2001 vintage, sold for 17360€. But for 19590€, we took five bottles of La Tâche, from 2009 to 2013, from the domain of the Romanée Conti, while on the Bordeaux side, a case of three magnums of Mouton Rothschild, harvested in 2000, was allowed to open at 13640€.
