Although 2020 has been a delicate year, the holidays and the confidence in better days have brought a little comfort to all with the prospect of a family and friendly reunion. To contribute to this, these three days of sales of great wines and spirits that were exceptional with the remarkable quality of the 1772 lots coming from splendid French cellars. These sales have attracted a great deal of interest from international collectors with a total product of around 2500000€ (including fees).
On the 27th of December, several cellars of enlightened amateurs were offered with many exceptional lots. Chartreuses (3 rare bottles from 1878-1903 Fourvoirie sold 29885€ - lots 132 to 134 or 1 bottle of V.E.P 1953 distilled on the day of the coronation of the Queen of England for 8060€ - lot 129), champagnes (2 bottles «Krug Collection, 1979» sold 5210€ - lot 1 or a case collection Salon 2008 for 7190€ - lot 302), whiskies (old Macallan and Dalmore), rum (1 bottle of St James 1885 for 750€ - lot 194) and prestigious wines throughout the day. For the latter, let’s mention the unmissable Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (1 bottle of 1999 from the eponymous vintage sold 21080 - lot 48 or 3 magnums of great vintages of 2005 for 25670€ - lots 50 to 52), or Chambertin of Domaine Armand Rousseau (10 bottles of the vintage 2009 sold 26300€ - lots 39 & 40) for Burgundy. Regarding Bordeaux, superb original wooden cases (6 magnums of Haut-Brion 1989 for 26040€ - lot 80 or even 1 Imperial of Mouton Rothschild 2000 for 26040€ - lot 82), collection cases (case Bordeaux primeurs of 12 bottles, 2002 for 9920€ - lot 84) and large formats embellished this first vacation of 500 lots.
The 28th and 29th of December also offered a very nice selection of prestigious wines from private cellars and cellars of prestigious starred restaurants. Thus, Montrachet, king of white wines, was well represented (26 bottles of Domaine Ramonet (sold 45025€ - lots 701 to 711 and 1372), 6 of 2009 of Domaine des Comtes Lafon, 1 bottle vintage 1992 of Domaine Leflaive for 10045€ - lot 1352 or 1 of 2006 of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti sold 6325€ - lot 602). The sought-after wines of the Domaine Coche-Dury were also present in numbers (12 Corton-Charlemagne 2009 and 2010 for 46130€ - lots 912 to 915) or 6 Meursault-Perrières 2014 for 13640€ - lot 843) to name a few. For the reds, an assortment of 15 bottles of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti was very surrounded (sold 60150€ - lot 1556), as were the numerous references of the Domaines Rousseau, Roumier (3 Musigny 1999, 2000 and 2014 for 31495€ - lots 1337, 1338 and 1362), Mugnier, Leroy, Auvenay or Prieuré-Roch.
Bordeaux was not left behind with the mythical Petrus (12 bottles of 2001 sold 29635€ - lot 770, 12 of 2005 for 40795€ - lots 813 & 814, 12 of 2010 for 43400€ - lot 815 or 12 of 2013 for 26300€ - lots 816 & 817). A few magnums of this same vintage were also present. In addition to the major classified wines, several Duclot Collection crates, Bordeaux Primeurs and a collection of bottles from the Château d'Yquem have delighted the palates of amateurs of the Gironde region.
The wines of the Domaine Overnoy in the Jura were the object of many lusts as they are magnificent and rare (110 bottles and magnums sold 75845€ - lots 1400 to 1463). Great wines of the Rhône (including the exceptional Château Rayas on many vintages in red and white), of the Loire and also of foreign vineyards (including several bottles of Vega Sicilia Unico). These three memorable vacations of the final days of 2020 were completed in the best of ways. For lovers of distant lands, a «Grands Crus» suitcase could be useful to travel even more pleasantly…(sold 10540€ - lot 750)!
