While 2020 has proven to be a tricky year, the holidays and confidence in a better day should bring some comfort to all with the prospect of a family and friendly reunion.
To contribute to this, these three days of sales of great wines and spirits announce themselves exceptional with the remarkable quality of the 1772 lots coming from splendid French cellars.
On December 27, several cellars of enlightened amateurs will be proposed with many exceptional lots. Will be auctioned Chartreuses (3 rare bottles of 1878-1903 Fourvoirie estimated 21000€ - lots 132 to 134 or even 1 bottle of V.E.P 1953 distilled on the day of the coronation of the Queen of England estimated 5000€ - lot 129), Champagnes (Salon 2008 collection box estimated 6000€ - lot 302), whiskies (old Macallan and Dalmore), rum (1 bottle of St James 1885 estimated 6000€ - lot 194) and prestigious wines throughout the day. For the latter, let’s mention the unmissable Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (1 bottle of 1999 from the eponymous vintage estimated 16000€ - lot 48 or 3 magnums of great vintages of 2005 estimated 19000€ - lots 50 to 52) or even some Chambertin from Domaine Armand Rousseau (10 bottles of the 2009 vintage estimated 18000€ - lots 39 & 40) for Burgundy. On the Bordeaux side, superb original wooden boxes (6 magnums of Haut-Brion 1989 estimated 21000€ - lot 80 or even 1 Imperial of Mouton Rothschild 2000 estimated 15000€ - lot 82), collection cases and large formats will complement this first vacation of 500 lots.
The 28th and 29th of December will also offer a beautiful selection of prestigious wines from private cellars and prestigious Michelin-starred restaurant cellars. Thus, the Montrachet, king of white wines, will be well represented (26 bottles of the Domaine Ramonet estimated 33000€, 6 of 2009 of the Domaine des Comtes Lafon, 1 bottle vintage 1992 of the Domaine Leflaive estimated 8000€ - lot 1352 or 1 of 2006 of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti estimated 4500€ - lot 602). The sought after wines of the Domaine Coche-Dury will also be present in numbers (12 Corton-Charlemagne 2009 and 2010 estimated 32000€ - lots 912 to 915 or 6 Meursault-Perrières 2014 estimated 10000 € - lot 843) to name a few. For the reds, an assortment of 15 bottles of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti should be very surrounded (estimated 40000€ - lot 1556), as well as the numerous references of the Domains Rousseau, Roumier (3 Musigny 1999, 2000 and 2014 estimated 23000€ - lots 1337, 1338 and 1362), Mugnier, Leroy, Auvenay or Prieuré-Roch.
Bordeaux will not be left behind with the mythical Petrus (12 bottles of 2001 estimated 24000€ - lot 770, 12 of 2005 estimated 30000€ - lots 813 & 814, or 12 of 2010 estimated 28000€ - lot 815). A few magnums of this same vintage will also be present. In addition to the major classified vintages, several Duclot Collection boxes, Bordeaux Primeurs and a collection of bottles from the Château d'Yquem will delight the palates of amateurs of the Gironde region.
The wines of the Domaine Overnoy in the Jura will be the object of many lusts as they are magnificent and rare (110 bottles and magnums estimated 58000€ - lots 1400 to 1463). Great wines of the Rhône (including the exceptional Château Rayas on many vintages in red and white), of the Loire and also of foreign vineyards (including several bottles of Vega Sicilia Unico) will best complement these three memorable vacations of the final days of 2020. For far-off land enthusiasts, a “Grands Crus” suitcase could be useful to travel even more pleasantly…(lot 750)!
