In the continuation of the exceptional sales made at the end of the year 2020, Besch Cannes Auction has proposed again on April 23 and 24, a splendid selection for lovers of French and foreign wines.
The first day of sales was mainly devoted to beautiful wine cellars of star-rated restaurateurs with 500 lots presented with recoverable VAT for the taxable professionals. Many bottles of famous estates of Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux and other French wine regions were on the program including 1 bottle of Romanée-Conti, 1973 (sold 8050€ - lot 501).
The 24th of April was entirely dedicated to several very beautiful private cellars of the highest quality and to that of a collector who has been looking for exceptional bottles in France and abroad for more than 30 years. Burgundian nectars were on display with the most sought-after wines of the region. Thus, several bottles of Romanée-Conti (1954 sold 5455€ - lot 1022, 1980 for 13765€ - lot 1023, 1985 for 13640€ - lot 1024, rare 1990 sold 25300€ - lot 900, 1996 for 17110€ - lot 1458 or 2005 sold 21100€ - lot 675) and an assortment of 12 bottles of the 1982 vintage (sold 31000€ - lot 1021) were very surrounded. The most sought-after wines from Domaine Leroy (3 Clos de la Roche 1996 sold 11,780€ - lot 1044), Domaine Ponsot (12 bottles of Clos de la Roche, cuvée Vieilles Vignes 1985 for 38565€ - lots 1056 and 1057) and Auvenay (1 Chevalier-Montrachet 1996 sold 8300€ - lot 1070) rubbed shoulders with the most prestigious estates of Burgundy such as Armand Rousseau (6 Chambertin 2009 to 2014 sold 14260€ - lots 606 to 611), Georges Roumier, Mugnier, Ponsot, Dugat, Coche-Dury without forgetting the mythical Henri Jayer (1 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux 1978 sold 16370€ - lot 1039 or 3 Echezeaux 1978 sold 25420€ - lot 1038). A real florilège!
Bordeaux was not left out with many bottles of Petrus (3 bottles of 1990 sold 12400€ - lot 898 or 6 of 2004 in wooden case sold 17360€ - lot 886, 1 magnum of 2003 sold 9300€ - lot 887) as well as those of the main classified grands crus of the region including a Jéroboam Château Mouton Rothschild 2000 (sold 15000€ - lot 800). Caisses Prestige and Collection delighted the amateurs of the region as well as this magnificent series of old vintages of the Château d'Yquem from 1855 (1 bottle sold 20450€ - lot 1007, 1879 for 13640 € - lot 1006, 1902 for 12525€ - lot 995) 1949 from the cellar of a wise collector. The 59 bottles of the collection totaling the record amount of 257735€ including expenses
The Rhone Valley offered its most prestigious wines with the confidential bottles of Ermitage Cathelin 1990 (2 bottles sold 17610€ – Lot 1295), 1991, 1995, 1998, 2003 and 2009 (1 bottle for 9425€ - Lot 654) of the Chave and Châteauneuf-Châteauneuf estate Henri Bonneau, Château Rayas, Pegau… ) to name a few.
Superb champagnes including a case of 6 bottles Vintage Champagne 1982 Krug (sold 5455€ - lot 1176), exceptional foreign wines and rare spirits were also on the menu of this eclectic sale really very prestigious which totaled more than 2000000€...
