Niki de Saint-Phalle, an incredible "nana"

Niki de Saint-Phalle (1930-2002)
Niki de Saint-Phalle (1930-2002)
"La fontaine aux quatre nanas"

Known for her large, colourful sculptures of luscious women, Niki de Saint-Phalle's love of colour came through her painting, but her most famous work is a series of sculptures for the Fountain in Place Igor Stravinsky in Paris.

"La Fontaine aux quatre nanas" is a fantastic sculpture in which four individually designed chicks bathe together in a relaxed "joie de vivre". Niki de Saint-Phalle never ceases to associate "nanas" with the sensual element of water. She is not just the woman of the Nanas, she is a committed woman of freedom.
