Fans of cinema, art and gastronomy are in for a treat. On December 30, Besch Cannes Auction is holding its traditional prestige sale "Arts passion" in the lounges of the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes. To mark the occasion, the Cannes auction house is presenting a unique collection of tableware created by the gastronomic restaurant La Palme d'Or at the Hôtel Martinez. Every year, the palace hosts the opening dinner for the members of the Cannes Festival jury.

Assiettes Robert de Niro

2011 Film Festival Jury Dinner - Set of 9 ceramic plates in honour of Robert de Niro and the film ‘Casino’, with 8 removable spinning tops

Estimate : 200/500€

From 2010 to 2023, plates have been specially designed, inspired by the presidents of the jury and their filmography: Tim Burton in 2010 with ‘Alice in Wonderland’; Robert de Niro in 2011 with ‘Casino’ and his plates in the shape of a roulette wheel or those from ‘Taxi Driver’ in the shape of a mask; Spike Lee in 2021 with ‘Malcolm X’ and his X-shaped plates on an American flag background; or Vincent Lindon, president of the jury for the 75th edition of the festival in 2022. Other must-see creations include a ceramic dish with a relief decoration created in honour of Steven Spielberg in 2013 for his film ‘Jaws’, and plates decorated with bullfighters for Pedro Amodovar and his film ‘Matador’ in 2013. These remarkable pieces, which pay tribute to some of the most famous names to have walked the red carpet, are all synonymous with luxury, refinement and haute cuisine.
